Is The Secret the “be all and end all” solution for you? Well if you are one of the thousands who thought and think so, I’m sorry to burst your bubble.
The Secret is NOT the “be all and end all”. The Secret is but the tip of the iceberg. When Rhonda Byrne produced The Secret for the world to hear about the Law of Attraction, it was never intended, and has never been, the whole answer.

Coming to the conclusion the Law of Attraction doesn’t work when all you ever did to educate yourself was watch The Secret 19 times (without looking at changing the habits of other areas of your life) is like coming to the conclusion that exercising is not an effective way to lose weight because all you did is run on the treadmill for 2 hours a day (but you’re still stuffing yourself with fried foods and cheesecakes).

A Pet Peeve

So many times I’ve had people connect with me and talk about how broke they are. How they are living on their credit cards. How they cannot afford anything. After hearing this for a while I suggest to them to get the book The Secret. Many times these same people already have the book. When I suggest they read one chapter during the week and then we can discuss it, 9 times out of 10, they never even open the book.

To change one’s circumstances one must seek and be hungry for new knowledge. One must also make an effort to be amongst people or communities where you can support each other, learn from each other and also share new knowledge that you have found and are implementing in your life.

This was a lesson I learned many, many years ago when I first got involved in network marketing. I read every book I could find pertaining to personal development. Yes, initially all I had was head knowledge. I also learned to stay around positive and uplifting people. One of the main reasons I stayed in the industry.

Funny things happen to you when you have lots of head knowledge and a real desire to change. A person, including myself, begins to apply that knowledge to their own life. The application is what creates the change and the miracle. So why doesn’t everyone get the knowledge and apply it?

Jim Rohn has asked the same question “Why not?” His answer is simple….”I don’t know.” Jim Rohn also says that even though an apple a day is a very simply task to do, most people won’t do it. Why not? The answer is simple, I don’t know.

Simply put, my pet peeve is that many may want change, but won’t even begin the process by investing in themselves. They are looking for the handout or “big break”.  Sorry, lasting change comes from within not from without.

To move from being a part of the 90% of the people to being in the top 5%, you must do what those top 5% do. One of their key habits is investing in their minds.
